AFNix (Association Française Nix) is a nonprofit providing administrative and technical services to open source projects within the Nix ecosystem. By sharing the work across multiple projects, we simplify access to a legal structure, monetary donations, server hosting, and several more services useful for our hosted projects.

Why AFNix for your project?
Legal structure
Having a legal structure is important for the resiliency of a project. It helps split off project resources from the individual resources of its contributors. It also ensures that donated resources get used for their intended purpose.
But creating such a legal structure is complex. It involves filling in paperwork, writing bylaws, putting personal information in public registries, paying for a bank account and insurance fees, and so on.
AFNix shortcuts all of this complexity for you by providing a slice of our own legal infrastructure for your own needs:
- Collect donations for your project and pay for your project's expenses through us.
- Get access to common funds and grants from AFNix to bootstrap your ideas.
Infrastructure hosting
A project often needs infrastructure services to run: software forge, continuous integration, downloads mirrors, Nix cache, and so on. AFNix provides hosted versions of those services for its partner projects. No complicated setup and maintenance, just ask our infrastructure team for an account.
For more complex and ad-hoc needs, we can also provide you with virtual machines or space in our shared datacenter rack.
